Samir Nasri is to be offered a contract by West Ham United following his training stint with the club, according to exWHUemployee.

The insider – who is a reliable source of news on the Hammers – revealed in the most recent ‘West Ham Way‘ podcast that the midfielder has been impressing the club staff with his displays during training with the Irons.

The 31-year-old – who has 215 Premier League appearances under his belt – is currently banned from playing until the end of December, but West Ham are set to table an offer for his services as soon as January comes along in order to complete some of their business early on.

OPINION

If this news is anything to go by, it looks like Nasri will be a West Ham player come January seeming as Andriy Yarmolenko is out for the rest of the season. However, whether he will be warmly welcomed by the supporters is another question, especially as he has been out of action for well over a year. Yes, he has been improving his fitness by training with the squad, but that does not automatically mean that will be fit and raring to go in the New Year. For all the fans know, he may still be off the pace after such a long time out. He has never really been a favourite of the fans, even when he was at Manchester City and Arsenal, so it is unlikely that he will become a fan favourite at the London Stadium. There would have been other options for Manuel Pellegrini to consider to cover the short-term absence of Yarmolenko – but we will soon find out if the risk to reunite with Nasri will backfire on him.
