Sky Sports pundit Paul Merson has predicted that West Ham United will claim all three points against Huddersfield Town on Saturday.

The Hammers travel to the John Smith’s Stadium on the back of a 4-2 win over Burnley last weekend, a result which saw the likes of Felipe Anderson grab a brace after a difficult start to life in the Premier League.

Merson believes that the Irons will come away with a 2-1 victory on Saturday when they meet the Terriers, who will be full of confidence after David Wagner guided them to a 1-0 win over Fulham on Monday.

In his predictions for Sky Sports, he said: “What a result that was for Huddersfield onĀ Monday Night Football. It wasn’t the greatest spectacle but David Wagner would not have cared one bit.

“I watched West Ham demolish Burnley last week – yes Burnley got in the game a few times but they thoroughly deserved to win the match.

“On that display, it’s clear West Ham are turning the corner. They will be too strong for Huddersfield.”

OPINION

Many would have predicted a higher scoring win for the Hammers for this clash, especially with the way they dominated Burnley last Saturday. That was a crucial win for Manuel Pellegrini, and his team will no doubt be full of confidence following the result. However, they are not the best on the road, something which they have demonstrated against the likes of Brighton recently. They cannot afford to be complacent against a team like Huddersfield, especially away from home – there is no reason why they cannot get a result despite the lack of quality in their recent win. Nevertheless, as Merson as rightly pointed out, West Ham have turned a corner, and they will continue to do so here. With Anderson now at the top of his game, it is likely that there will be more goals in this clash.
