West Ham United defender Issa Diop has dismissed any talk of him departing the club after a report linked him with a return to France.

The Daily Mail previously reported that Paris Saint-Germain wanted to bring him back to France for a fee of around £50 million – however, the summer recruit has that he is not aware of any interest in him, if there is any.

The 6ft 4in [Transfermarkt] powerhouse was signed from Ligue 1 outfit Toulouse in the last transfer window, and his solid displays have earned him a place in the hearts of the West Ham fans.

“A departure to PSG this winter? Frankly, I do not know at all, I learned the information like you, it was sent to me via social networks,” he said, as quoted by the Mirror.

“If my agent knows? Maybe, you have to see with him (laughs!). I’m very good at West Ham, I enjoy discovering the Premier League every weekend.”

OPINION

Diop has most definitely won over the majority of West Ham fans since his arrival in the summer, and who can blame them – he has been a real rock in the centre of the defence in all of the matches that he has played. The supporters would no doubt be devestated about the prospect of him leaving the club, so the fact that he has practically dismissed any talk of him leaving will be a huge relief for them. He is arguably one of the best central defenders the club has had in a very long time, and at the age of 21, he looks set to have a fantastic career at the London Stadium. He just needs to carry on what he is doing at the moment, and who knows, he may end up writing himself into the West Ham history books. Nevertheless, Diop not being aware of any rumours linking him with a move away is just what the fans would have been wanting to hear.
