West Ham are very keen to hold on to Adrian and have no intention of parting company with him in January, according to Claret & Hugh.

The dedicated Hammers website claim that the club have already offered the 31-year-old goalkeeper a new deal, which they believe is good or better than they’ll get anywhere else, with the player’s current contract set to expire in the summer.

Claret & Hugh report that Manuel Pellegrini wants two good options for every position and that means the Hammers want Adrian to stay in order to keep pressure on first-choice shot-stopper Lukasz Fabianski regarding his first-team status.

OPINION

Adrian has been rarely used this season as Fabianski was signed in the summer from Swansea City and has already become vital to his side. Fabianski has arguably been the most successful summer signing for the Hammers so far and while has had to pick the ball out of his net too many times, it hasn’t been a true reflection of his performances. The former Swans keeper has made some vital saves in his outings for the Hammers and has proven himself to be the right choice to play between the sticks. Due to this Adrian has rarely been used by Pellegrini thus far with him making only two appearances this season. Both his outings have come in the EFL Cup and he is no doubt aiming to make a positive impression whenever he features to ensure that he remains in Pellegrini’s thoughts. While the Hammers believe that Adrian won’t get a better offer elsewhere, it’s easy to imagine the 31-year-old still leaving the London Stadium upon his contract expiring as he will no doubt want to be at a club that give him more first-team opportunities.
