West Ham United midfielder Mark Noble was the driving force behind the club’s recent turnaround in form, according to the Daily Mail.

The newspaper reports on their website that a furious rant, which saw him tearing into his teammates, from the Hammers mainstay following the 1-0 defeat to Wolverhampton Wanderers inspired the team to change their fortunes around in the Premier League.

The Daily Mail report that after the match, Noble – who was an unused substitute – was far from pleased with the performance of the team, reinforcing the fact that more effort was needed from them, especially those that had cost the Irons £100 million in the summer.

“You just do not seem to care and that is not acceptable at this club,” Noble is reported to have said to the players.

OPINION

It is not surprising in the slightest that Mark Noble is reported to have been the driving force behind the team’s sudden resurgence in form. They have been excellent recently, but the players certainly needed a dressing down from one of the club’s most pivotal figures after four defeats on the bounce. They needed to recognise that their displays were nowhere near good enough, let alone the standard required for the Premier League. Nevertheless, it seems as though Noble’s dressing room rant has worked wonders, as they have now recorded seven points in their last three games, four of them picked up against the likes of Chelsea and Manchester United. Their 3-1 win over United on Saturday showed just how far they have come, but it also showed that their new recruits do have what it takes to inflict real damage on teams. The West Ham team needed to be told after the loss to Wolves – and it has certainly proved dividends for them.
