West Ham must reignite their reported pursuit of Atlanta United attacking midfielder Miguel Almiron after the latest update on his future.

Argentine news outlet Estudio Futbol, via their Twitter, shared that the MLS side were pursuing the services of River Plate attacker Gonzalo Martinez in the next transfer window.

This fresh update was then followed by sports journalist Cesar Luis Merlo, via his Twitter, revealing that Atlanta’s desire to sign Martinez meant that Almiron was likely to head to Europe as a result.

Following this update the Hammers have to instantly make a move in case Almiron is available as the lethal finisher is exactly the type of player who could help them soar in the second-half of the season.

The Sun previously claimed in July that the Hammers were in talks with the player’s representatives over a potential £10million deal but that his side wouldn’t consider selling him until the New Year.

Given that newspaper also shared that Newcastle United are already interested in him as well, then the Hammers have to get the ball rolling in their pursuit of the 24-year-old quickly as his form is no doubt going to see loads of teams trying to sign him.

Almiron has been involved with helping his side score 25 goals in 2018 as he has bagged 12 for himself while registering 13 assists by putting chances on a plate for his teammates.

The Hammers have a fantastic attacking front-three in the form of Marko Arnautovic, Felipe Anderson and Andriy Yarmolenko, but the club don’t have significant cover for them.

As Manuel Pellegrini no doubt doesn’t trust the like of Javier Hernandez or Andy Carroll to step in and keep the Hammers among the goals given their troubles in recent times.

Therefore the Hammers need to sign a glorified goal machine like Almiron to ensure the goals keep flowing no matter if injury strikes.

This all means that the London Club must reignite their reported pursuit as soon as possible in order to successfully win the race to sign him ahead of any other team.
