Kirsty Gallacher shared that she was a big fan of West Ham manager Manuel Pellegrini and that she was excited when his return to the Premier League was confirmed.

The television presenter confessed that she was a little bit worried over the experienced manager’s start to life at the London Stadium but was glad to see things now going well.

Gallacher added that she thought Pellegrini was a very intelligent man and that she believes he did an excellent job when manager of Manchester City.

“I’m a big Pellegrini fan as well, I was really excited, I’m not a West Ham fan but I was excited when he came back to the Premier League,” said the presenter when on BBC 5 Live Sport (Sunday 30th September, 18:44).

“A little bit (when asked whether worried at start of season) but I think Bernard is right (positive Hammers fan) it is going to take time, he is a very intelligent man and he was brilliant at City and I have to say it’s nice to see things going well.”

OPINION

While Gallacher admits she isn’t a Hammers fan, she clearly is a member of the Pellegrini fan club. The former Sky Sports News presenter seems to hold a high opinion of the veteran manager and it’s apparent that she hoping the Hammers do well for his sake. Pellegrini excelled at Manchester City as he guided them to a Premier League title so it is actually nice to hear someone praise him for that achievement. Ahead of arriving at the London Stadium in the summer, some downplayed the difficulty level of winning a league title with Man City when you consider the transfer funds they were able to spend to aid their cause. However the Premier League title isn’t easy to buy and it takes a talented to manager to gel a team together capable of winning the league. Many clubs have splashed the cash and failed so Pellegrini’s previous accomplishment shouldn’t be written off. Hammers fans are starting to see the Pellegrini era come together as his side are playing attractive football and racking up the results.
