OPINION
Rio Ferdinand delivered his verdict on West Ham’s 3-1 win over Manchester United on Saturday and his remarks proved why Manuel Pellegrini is the right man for the job at the London Stadium.
The BT Sport pundit shared that the Hammers were reaping the rewards for their work on the training ground after picking up three excellent results on the bounce but it was his comment about them showboating that proves Pellegrini’s worth.
“I think it was inevitable (the early season struggles) because of the amount of changes that had in the summer so there’s got to be a little bedding in period” said Ferdinand on BT Sport (Saturday 29th September, as uploaded in a clip via Twitter).
“They had that and seem to have worked, they’ve been working hard on the training ground and they’re getting their just rewards.
“The last three results have been fantastic to away to Everton and win 3-1 then come back here and have a great result against Chelsea who are flying then today to sweep aside this Manchester United the way they did with the conviction.
“The way they played, the personality, in the end they were showboating and for Manchester United fans it was embarrassing, Man United players embarrassing but it was a great statement this season going forward.”
Ferdinand was right to point out the Hammers played with personality and were on the brink of bringing out the party tricks on Saturday and they also showed this quality against Everton during their win over them.
This statement proved that Pellegrini is the correct choice to be the Hammers manager for the foreseeable future as he is going to give Hammers supporters what they want.
It is well known that fans of the London club don’t just expect results to be racked up by their team but they expect attractive football to be played in the process.
Given that the Hammers were practically show-boating against Man United and the exciting attacking trio of Andriy Yarmolenko, Felipe Anderson and Marko Arnautovic were taking the crowd’s breath away with their antics, then it shows Pellegrini is encouraging the style of play Hammers fans like to see.
Also aside from encouraging his team to play attractive football and unleashing them in way for them to do it, the Hammers manager is now seeing the positive results come flooding in as well.
Therefore following Ferdinand’s verdict it’s is clear that Pellegrini is the right man for the Hammers right now and the correct one to take the Hammers into a whole new era.
