Some West Ham supporters on social media raved about the performance of Jack Wilshere despite their side losing 2-1 to Bournemouth at the London Stadium.
The Hammers succumbed to their second league defeat of the season on Saturday despite going 1-0 up against the Cherries through a Marko Arnautovic penalty.
Yet despite the disappointment of going on to lose their first home fixture of the 2018/19 season, Hammers fans on Twitter were quick to focus on how positive Wilshere’s latest display was.
One fan tweeted that the 26-year-old was the best Hammers player against Bournemouth while another claimed he was the only player who could take credit from his first two displays.
Forever West Ham has rounded up some of the best tweets below:
Wilshere, Yarmalenko and Fabianski. Great pen by Arnie.

We need to give @F_Andersoon time.
He will need at least 8-10 games to start adjusting to the PL. Italian football is totally different. Only player who can take any credit from 1st 2 games is @JackWilshere. All the other players need to step up a level with some 2 levels #WHUFC— PMarshall (@pbm1968) August 19, 2018
Wilshere actually had a really good game. Anderson clearly isnt fit but definitely isnt slow. The rest i agree with.

Wilshere looked good, Chicharito had some good link up with the wingers, and Zabaleta despite allowing them to counter had an all round decent game

I thought Jack Wilshere played well. Looked really composed on the ball and was trying to make things happen. I thought Zabs had a decent game too ⚒

OPINION
It seems Hammers supporters have found a way to be positive in defeat as they believe Wilshere submitted a good display against the Cherries on Saturday. While some point out he was excellent and showed off glimpses of his ability in periods of the game given that a lot of his teammates struggled, it shows how impressive he was. The 5ft 6in tall (Transfermrkt) midfielder no doubt will be wishing that his display could have led to a more positive result against Eddie Howe’s side but it wasn’t his fault that his side struggled to pick up a point from Saturday’s game. Wilshere will hopefully continue to settle in and improve his performances in coming weeks as that will help his side get points on the board sooner rather than later. However it’s worth noting that even though one fan thinks the midfield plays well with Mark Noble, it’s clear that the two do not complement each other in the middle of park and one needs to be dropped.
