Many West Ham fans took to social media to heap praise on attacker Robert Snodgrass after his performance against FSV Mainz 05 on Tuesday.
Manuel Pellegrini’s side defeated the Germany side on penalties, 7-6, after the two teams couldn’t be separated after 90 minutes as it ended 1-1 after normal time.
After watching their side win against Mainz, lots of Hammers supporters were in agreement that Snodgrass was the one player that deserved to be praised for his latest display.
One Hammers fan tweeted that the 30-year-old winger looked a completely different player under Pellegrini while another claimed it was the attacker’s best game for the club so far.
Forever West Ham have rounded up a selection of tweets by Hammers supporters about Snodgrass’ latest display:
FT West Ham 1-1 FSV Mainz 05 (7-6) on pens – One of the best games I've seen from Robert Snodgrass If I'm honest, totally stood out today.

I am not one to judge a player by his name. Yes we have just spent £60m on Yarmolenko and Felipe Anderson but that should not mean they automatically start. If Snodgrass performs well enough and shows his form, it would be nice to see him play a big role this season. pic.twitter.com/7gWVdfotdV

I think if we can start the season and still have Antonio and Snodgrass, we’ll be in a better position than if we sell them. @robsnodgrass7 was immense today

OPINION
While delivering the goods in pre-season is a whole different ball game to excelling for club in competitive games, Snodgrass has certainly given Hammers supporters and Pellegrini food for thought. It seems several fans based on their tweets now believe that the 30-year-old is worth keeping at the London Stadium as clearly he’d be a useful squad player for Pellegrini to call upon. While Snodgrass would no doubt rather fans saw him as a potential starter, after spending last season away on loan at Aston Villa in the Championship most supporters weren’t expecting him to return to the club and make any form of positive impact. Yet based on how fans reacted to his latest display, it seems supporters aren’t overly keen to see him spend any more time away from the club.
