OPINION
Some Hammers supporters are rightly impressed by Quina’s first display for Watford but they shouldn’t regret the club binning him. As one fan pointed out when the teen was handed a golden chance against Arsenal in the FA Cup, he looked terribly below the standard he needed to be. When you consider that and the fact his contract was set to expire next summer than the Hammers were right to risk pushing him out the door when they did as it meant they at least got some fee for his services. The teenager may go on to be a success story for Watford in the Premier League but he didn’t show enough signs that he was going to excel at the London Stadium in near future. Quina’s debut goal was a beauty but it is worth noting it was against Reading and it was in the League Cup. If the 18-year-old starts scoring like that on a regular basis than perhaps the fans worrying about losing him will actually be justified at that point.
