West Ham forward Jordan Hugill has arrived at Middlesbrough and is set to undergo a medical with the Championship club ahead of a potential move to them, according to a Sky Sports journalist.

Keith Downie, who is the North-East correspondent for Sky Sports, stated via his personal Twitter account, that the 6ft tall Hammers forward (Transfermarkt) was pencilled in to have a medical with Tony Pulis’ side.

The Sky Sports journalist stated that it was unclear whether it was a temporary or permanent exit on the cards for Hugill despite Sky Sports previously reporting that it was a loan deal being discussed between the two sides.

OPINION

If Hugill is on the brink of a permanent exit then hopefully the Hammers are getting a respectable fee for his services. The 26-year-old arrived at the London Stadium in January from Preston North End and has been starved of chances ever since arriving. Hugill has only featured three times for the Hammers and he can hardly be blamed for it not working out at the club. Clearly the Premier League side made a mistake by signing him as it seems they didn’t believe he was worthy of playing for them in the top-flight. With Hugill potentially having one foot out of the door now that he is set to have a medical with Boro, hopefully a move goes through for him and his London Stadium nightmare is permanently ended. The Hammers attacker was born in Boro so hopefully the familiar surrounds will see him instantly get his career back on track as it would be a shame if the Hammers had completely derailed him after opting to bizarrely buy him in January.
