West Ham have tabled a £26.5million plus bid for Barcelona defender Yerry Mina, according to Sport.

The Spanish publication claim that the Hammers, Everton and Leicester City have all submitted offers above 30 million euros (£26.5million) for the 6ft 5in centre-back (Transfermarkt).

Sport report that Mina is unlikely to be at Barcelona in the coming weeks with the Spanish giants ready to cash in on him after his eye-catching performances for Columbia at the World Cup.

OPINION

The colossus defender made a name for himself at this year’s World Cup after scoring three goals in his three appearances and it’s a great piece of business if the Hammers are able to secure his services. Mina aside from being a threat in front of goal is a very capable defender who would be a rock at the back if added to Manuel Pellegrini’s side. The 23-year-old was limited to making only five appearances in La Liga last season with Barcelona and is no doubt keen to regularly feature in his upcoming campaign. The Hammers could easily assure him of more opportunities to feature if he joined them as with Winston Reid out due to injury and Mina’s talents then the 23-year-old could easily cement himself as a guaranteed starter at the club. The only issue that the Toffees and the Foxes are likely to make similar promises to Mina so it’s hard to know which Premier League side currently holds the lead in the race for his signature. However one thing is certain and that is the fact that Mina is worth signing for an eight-figure fee this summer.
