West Ham United boss Manuel Pellegrini has focused his efforts so far this summer on sorting out the club’s defence, but the Hammers have also been linked to several attackers as the Chilean looks to add depth in all areas.

One of those linked with the club has been Napoli striker Roberto Inglese, with Calcio Napoli 24 previously reporting that the Irons held serious interest in the 26-year-old forward.

The Italian outlet claimed that the club were ready to submit a deal worth £17.5million for the attacker, who spent last season on loan at Chievo Verona.

This reported deal would have made little sense for West Ham, with the club surely better off spending that kind of money elsewhere, on players who are slightly more proven than Inglese.

However, according to the latest report in Il Mattino, the Hammers now have a brilliant chance to secure a risk-free deal for Inglese that will not cost them nearly as much this summer.

The Italian regional newspaper report that Napoli boss Carlo Ancelotti has now assessed his squad and decided which players he will allow to leave.

Inglese is among those deemed surplus to requirements, with the Serie A club now looking to loan the 26-year-old out this summer, with West Ham named as an interested party.

This is now a perfect opportunity for the Hammers to secure a deal for a player which they have been tracking which will not cost them anything and will allow them to strengthen up top without much risk.

If their interest is serious, as previously reported, then they must launch an immediate swoop to bring Inglese to the London Stadium this summer.

It is a deal which will allow Pellegrini to add depth to his attack while not sacrificing valuable funds that are needed to address important issues elsewhere on the pitch.

It is a no-brainer, and they must now move swiftly to make it a reality.
