Andriy Yarmolenko has jetted into West Ham’s training camp in Switzerland and is currently taking the first part of his medical, according to Sky Sports.

Sky posted the claim on Monday afternoon, and added (Sky Transfer Centre, 15.43) that the medical would hopefully lead to his £17.5million move from Borussia Dortmund.

OPINION

This is great news for West Ham, after the club has already got fans excited by officially announcing the deal for Jack Wilshere. Yarmolenko is a prolific goal-scorer with an incredible record – at Dynamo Kiev he scored 147 goals in 347 games and added 90 assists. He’s got 35 goals in just 76 internationals for Ukraine. That’s some serious stats and although he didn’t have the best year at Borussia Dortmund, after arriving last summer in a £22.5million deal, six goals and six assists in 26 games isn’t shabby. Can he convert these stats into goals in the Premier League? That’s the £17.5million question, but there’s no denying that he’s an exciting talent who, at just 28, has still got years in front of him. His international record is the most impressive – a striker rate of one in two across 76 international games ranks up there with the very best in the world. He didn’t get a chance to show his skills off at the World Cup finals, but he scored two and made two in his last game for Ukraine. West Ham fans will be buzzing.
