Jack Wilshere will jet to Switzerland to join his new teammates on a pre-season training camp after West Ham United officially confirmed his signing.

The 26-year-old midfielder has signed a three-year contract after joining The Hammers on a free transfer.

The England international, who stands at 5ft 8in, was recently released by Arsenal, has made 166 Premier League appearances in his career, scoring eight goals and providing 20 assists (TransferMarkt).

OPINION

This is a real statement of intent from West Ham United. There was probably a lot of teams interested in Wilshere’s signature, so it’s a real coup that The Hammers have managed to secure his signature. The new manager Manuel Pellegrini will love having the Englishman at his disposal. He can run games from midfield, control the tempo, dribble past people and make that telling pass when needed, he really is a unique talent. The only question marks over this signing is that fact that he’s had constant injury issues over the last few seasons and has missed a lot of football. However, if West Ham can control his fitness and keep him fresh at all times, he will be a massive asset to the club. This signing proves that the club is ambitious and wants to move forwards next season, which must be a breath of fresh air for Hammers fans. Massive signing.
