Jack Collison delivered his verdict on West Ham goalkeeper Joseph Anang after the 18-year-old signed his first professional deal with the club.

The 29-year-old, who played 121 times for the Hammers and became the club’s Under-16 manager in 2017 (Source: club’s official website) took to his Twitter to claim that Anang was one of the hardest working kids he had ever seen.

The Hammers confirmed via their official website on Sunday that Anang had signed a three-year deal with the club and had trained regularly alongside Adrian and the senior squad last season.

OPINION

Collison is certainly convinced that the 18-year-old shot-stopper is one to watch by taking to his Twitter account to put the spotlight firmly on the teen talent. Anang should be looking to regularly feature for the Hammers’ U-23 side next season, which he stated on the club’s website as being one of his aims, and hopefully he achieves his goal. The goalkeeper may face tough competition from Nathan Trott when it comes to being the Hammers’ first- choice keeper for the U-23s but perhaps Trott could be set to be involved with the senior squad more or loaned out. Trott, 19, is highly-rated and his reputation proceeds him even though he is yet to make an appearance for the first-team. With Anang clearly ready for more opportunities in the club’s youth set-up after penning his first professional deal, then the club should look to loan Trott out to get him some vital experience of senior football.
