Dimitri Payet has been offered back to West Ham in a sensational move because Marseille need to sell him, according to an Insider.
The news that Payet was being offered was broken by a Guardian journalist, Jacob Steinberg, on Friday morning.
He said it would be a stunning story if it happens.
It’s come as a surprise partly because of the manner of his departure and also because Payet is thought to be happy in France. Would be a stunning story if it happens #whufc

Following the news being broken, ExWHUemployee, who had hinted that a player was due to be offered to back to West Ham in a stunning move last night, revealed more details on the move.
He said that Payet’s agent offered the player to West Ham because Marseilles need to sell and that the 31-year-old attacker would be happy to return to east London.
However, he also said that the deal was “very unlikely” at this stage.
Seeing as it has been leaked now by many sources the player was Payet! Shockingly his agent got in touch with club because Marseille need to sell. He said he would be happy to return because the personal issues he had have been resolved. It is very unlikely at this point though⚒

OPINION
Payet might be happy about returning to West Ham, but will the fans and the West Ham board feel the same? It sounds like the ball is in West Ham’s court but you’d have to question whether they’d want him back, or whether they’d prefer to use the situation as a show of strength. The Payet situation was hugely unsavoury and fans don’t forget things like that easily. However, there’s a big but. Putting aside all personal feelings, there’s no doubting how good a footballer Payet is. Would he improve a team that’s been massively strengthened by Manuel Pellegrini and new recruits already? Absolutely. Payet was fantastic in his first stint at the club and although it ended badly, there’s no reason why he can’t be as good again. Pellegrini is canvassing senior players’ opinions and the club will no doubt be monitoring the fans’ views on social media. They seem completely split at the moment.
