West Ham completed the signing of defender Issa Diop on Tuesday evening and manager Manuel Pellegrini should now turn his attention to strengthening his midfield options.

The Hammers have a lot of defensive midfielders in the shape of Pedro Obiang, Mark Noble and Cheikhou Kouyate, but are crying out for some more flair in the centre of the park.

They should consider entering the hunt for midfielder Amadou Haidara at Austrian club RB Salzburg, who reached the semi-finals of the Europa League in the most recent season.

The Mirror reports in its live transfer blog (7:04pm, 19 June) that Premier League outfit Southampton are lining up a move to sign the 20-year-old, while German club RB Leipzig are also keen.

It is understood that he is valued at around £15million after an impressive campaign and that is why West Ham should try hijack the interest this summer.

Haidara is a rising star that adds goals from the midfield and is exactly the type of figure Pellegrini needs to look at bringing in at the London Stadium.

The central midfielder made 55 appearances across all competitions in the recent campaign, scoring eight goals and supplying 10 assists in return.

He would definitely provide a fresh option in the Hammers side and help link up play from the midfield to the attack.

The Mali internatonal could be great value for money at just £15million given his potential and snapping him up now could be a genius move before his price tag rockets.
