West Ham have completed the signing of defender Issa Diop from French outfit Toulouse – and the club’s supporters are ecstatic on Twitter with his capture.
The Hammers have confirmed that the French centre-back has made the switch to the London Stadium for a club record fee and that he has penned a five-year deal.
Sky Sports reports that the 21-year-old enforcer has made the move to the Premier League for £21.9million and he becomes the latest player to sign under the reign of new manager Manuel Pellegrini.
West Ham are clearly looking to improve their backline this summer ahead of next season after the capture of ex-Fulham right-back Ryan Fredericks and he has been joined by the latest recruit.
Diop has just enjoyed an impressive campaign in Ligue 1 with Toulouse, where he enhanced his reputation as a powerhouse defender and that has seen him subsequently earn a move to England.
He is a France Under-21 international that will bolster the centre-back options for the Hammers next season and he is a threat going forward with three goals from 42 appearances for Toulouse during the recent campaign.
West Ham supporters on social media are already extremely excited about the new transfer and are hoping the highly-rated defender can settle quickly in English football with them.
