West Ham submitted offers for Swansea City duo Alfie Mawson and Lukasz Fabianski only for them to be rejected, according to Wales Online.

The Welsh newspaper claim that the Swans rejected the Hammers’ offers as they were significantly below the club’s valuation of the two players and they have no intention of selling them cheaply.

Wales Online report that both are expected to leave the Liberty Stadium after the Swans suffered relegation the 2017/18 campaign but the hierarchy will only let them go for the right offer.

Good move for West Ham?

The London-based Premier League side are targeting the right players to pluck from a recently relegated Swansea City as both are capable of doing a decent job at the London Stadium next season.

The 6ft 2in tall (Transfermarkt) Mawson would be a find solution to the Hammers’ problems at centre-back after impressing in a lot of his 44 appearances last season despite the Swansea struggles.

While the 6ft 3in tall (Transfermarkt) goalkeeper who did a tremendous job in his 38 outings for the Swans in his recent campaign could be a short-term solution for the Hammers problems between the sticks.

If the colossus pair were able to be picked up for a reasonable price both could be signings that the club look back on come the end of the season and think what smart business that was.

Likely to happen?

According to Wales Online, the Hammers are miles off the price point the Swans are trying to get for the pair so need to significantly improve their offers to be successful.

As the paper claims, the Hammers were thought to have previously been unsuccessful with a £25million bid for Mawson in January with Fabianski’s price tag thought to be north of the £5million price mark.

Depending on how much the Swans are asking for the giant duo the Hammers will no doubt try again with further bids but if the Welsh club have their sights set too higher the Manuel Pellegrini will look elsewhere.

Especially if the Swans want an offer higher than £25million for Mawson.
