West Ham United remain interested in a move for Fenerbahce midfielder Josef de Souza as the Turkish Super Lig club attempt to get rid of him this summer, according to AMK Spor

The Turkish sports newspaper, as translated by Sport Witness, report that Fenerbahce are now willing to let the Brazilian leave for just £8.8million as they look to offload his high wages and cash in while he still has one year left on his deal.

AMK claim that Fenerbahce are now just waiting for offers to come in for the three-time Brazil international after slashing the asking price, with the club ready to enter talks with any interested party.

This claim comes just a few weeks after another Turkish outlet, Sporx, reported that the Hammers had seen a £10.5million offer for Josef rejected by Fenerbahce.

Good move for West Ham?

Josef was a regular starter for Fenerbahce last season, making 41 appearances in all competitions while scoring four goals and providing two assists during that time.

The 29-year-old Brazilian is obviously a quality player, but the issue here would be his ability to make the jump to the Premier League.

His large 6ft 2in frame [Transfermarkt] suggests that he could handle the increased physicality, but he would have to adapt quickly to the faster pace of the game on these shores.

One thing massively pulling in favour of this deal however is price, with £8.8million looking like an absolute steal for the Hammers if they decide to make another bid.

Likely to happen?

It looks nailed-on that Josef will leave the Turkish club this summer, but it is yet to be seen whether West Ham will be his destination.

Fenerbahce do look incredibly keen to sell, so that will work in their favour if they do end up bidding.

Midfield is also an area of concern for Pellegrini, and that would lend weight to the possibility of him taking a punt on Josef at this cut-price fee.
