West Ham United have seen a £10.5million bid rejected for Fenerbahce midfielder Josef de Souza, according to Sporx

The Turkish outlet report that the Hammers will have to increase their bid to £13million for Fenerbahce to consider sanctioning an exit for the three-time Brazil international.

Sporx claim that Fenerbahce are desperate for the 29-year-old to remain at the club this summer, with newly-relegated West Bromwich Albion also interested.

Good move for West Ham?

Josef has been an instrumental figure for Fenerbahce this season, with the Brazilian making 41 appearances in all competitions, scoring four goals in the process.

The midfield enforcer is one of the first names on the team sheet at the Turkish giants, and looks like he could handle a step up in competition.

He is however relatively untested in Europe’s top divisions, with the 29-year-old only having played for Porto on the continent before his move to Turkey.

On the other hand, a £13million price tag would represent a bargain for West Ham, and this looks like it could be a shrewd move from new boss Manuel Pellegrini.

Likely to happen?

If West Ham were to up their reported bid to £13million, then this one could indeed go through.

There will be questions over the authenticity of this report however, with Josef not having been linked to the club beforehand, but that does not mean a deal will not happen.
