Lazio forward Felipe Anderson has agreed the terms of a £3.1million-a-year contract with West Ham, according to a reliable journalist.

Gazzetta Dello Sport correspondent Nicolò Schira reported on his personal Twitter account late on Thursday night that the Brazil international wants to move to the London outfit this summer.

Schira explained that Anderson, 25, has reached agreement on the terms of a five-year deal worth £59,000-a-week and terms are ongoing between Lazio and West Ham officials over the fee needed to secure the signing.

OPINION

The encouraging thing for West Ham fans eager for their club to sign the Brazil international is that he appears very keen to end his five-year stay at Lazio and head to the Premier League. Moreover, personal terms appear to have been agreed, with right-sided forward Anderson in line for a contract worth less than half of top earner Javier Hernandez. Unlike the striker, Anderson is not a proven Premier League player and has no record of delivering the goods in the world’s most competitive league. But, the 25-year-old’s pedigree is evident from his contribution at Lazio since joining in 2013. In 177 matches in all competitions, the right-sided forward has scored 34 goals and supplied 42 assists. He is quick, crafty and capable of scoring and creating goals. West Ham were heavily reliant last season upon the physical qualities of Marko Arnautovic. Signing Anderson would add a new dimension to an attack requiring more finesse and variety.
