West Ham have plenty of work to do ahead of next season in the Premier League and one of their main focuses should be on finding a new goalkeeper to help tighten up their leaky defence.

Both Adrian and loanee Joe Hart have proven this campaign that they are extremely vulnerable, which is why the Hammers need a new first-choice option going into next year.

David Moyes’ side have conceded a colossal 67 league goals so far this campaign and that is the joint-worst in the top flight alongside already relegated Stoke City.

One man that could make a huge difference at the London Stadium is Burnley and England goalkeeper Tom Heaton.

The Clarets club captain has proven himself to be a huge success in the Premier League in recent years and is the sort of authoritive figure that is lacking in the Hammers backline.

The Daily Mirror reports that Heaton is currently frustrated at his lack of game time at the London Stadium, as he has been unable to force his way into the XI ahead of Nick Pope after returning from a lengthy injury in February.

West Ham should test the 32-year-old’s patience by swooping for him at the end of the season and he could definitely fix the club’s ongoing issue in goal.

He is entering the peak years for a goalkeeper and at one point he was in with a shot of becoming the England number one, with three international caps under his belt.

Heaton is too good right now to be sitting on the bench in the top flight and West Ham should pull out all the tricks to try make him their shot-stopper.
