West Ham are lingering just three points above the Premier League’s relegation zone following a 4-1 defeat to Manchester City last weekend and things could be set to get a lot worse in the final three matches of the season.

The Hammers travel to face Leicester City this weekend before finishing their campaign against Manchester United and Everton – and a former Liverpool defender believes David Moyes’ fight to avoid a drop to the Championship will go down right to the wire.

Predicting a 2-1 victory for Leicester this weekendBBC pundit Mark Lawrenson also singled out Andy Carroll for criticism.

“West Ham got turned over by Manchester City last week and Hammers boss David Moyes fell out with Andy Carroll when he went back to the dressing room during the game after being an unused substitute.”

“Moyes was quite right in my opinion, because that is an insult to your team-mates. What sort of person does that – let alone Carroll, who is so injury prone that you might only get 15 starts out of him a season.”

Elsewhere in the battle to avoid the drop, Lawrenson predicts a win for struggling Stoke against Crystal Palace and a draw for Southampton, which would lead the Hammers just two points above the relegation zone.
