West Ham boss David Moyes continues to eye improvements to his midfield ranks, after failing to land a permanent signing in January and having to settle with Joao Mario on-loan from Inter Milan, who has been inconsistent at best.

The Hammers were linked with a number of names during the mid-season transfer window and a potential deal for Anderlecht’s Leander Dendoncker regularly appeared in the press, although Moyes was unable to secure a deal.

However, a deal for the Belgium international is very much on as Anderlecht’s new owner Marc Coucke made it clear they would not stand in the way of a departure for the 22-year-old if a suitable offer is made this summer.

Quoted by Belgian outlet HLN, he said:

“A bunch of things were promised to him by the old board. Luc Devroe and myself have confirmed that if there was a correct offer, we’d let him go. We have asked him to play as best he can during the last few games. The better he plays, the more clubs there will be. Scouts who were there at the Charleroi game will have jotted down his name”.

Dendoncker was the star of the show at the weekend’s 3-1 win over Charleroi, scoring one goal and contributing a further assist.
