West Ham handed their hopes of avoiding relegation another significant boost yesterday with a 1-1 draw against Chelsea, pushing David Moyes’ side six-points clear of the drop zone.

Key battles still lie ahead for the Hammers though, especially in next week’s relegation showdown against second-bottom Stoke City, and the fights with their Premier League rivals could continue into the summer transfer market.

The Sun claims Everton are keen on raiding the Hammers for the services of English left-back Aaron Cresswell and the Toffees are said to be eyeing a large £25m swoop for the defender.

28-year-old Cresswell is born and raised in Liverpool, with a source stating that the experienced defender is keen on returning to Merseyside, increasing the chances of a move to Everton occurring this summer.

“Aaron is keen on moving back to Liverpool and Everton would be a great move for him.”

Capped three times for England, Cresswell is an important member of West Ham’s squad and a departure would be a massive blow, particularly as Moyes already has plenty of work to do at the back to rejuvenate his side.
