West Ham’s transfer policy in recent years has come under criticism and it’s no surprise to see wholesale changes prepared for this summer, as the club’s board seek the appointment of a director of football.

The Hammers have seen club-record signing Marko Arnautovic impress this season after a difficult start to life at the London Stadium but many of their other recruits, including Javier Hernandez and loanee Joe Hart, have struggled to make a positive impression.

Those worries also extend into the January transfer window, with Joao Mario signed on-loan from Inter Milan and Jordan Hugill snatched from Preston, and it’s now claimed that the Hammers could approve an exit for the latter.

According to The SunWest Ham will consider a permanent sale or a loan move for a striker they paid a reported £8m for just a few months ago.

Hugill has earned just 22 minutes of Premier League football since his move to the club and has failed to provide a boost to the relegation threatened side, though the fault seems to lay with the club more than with the player.
