West Ham are facing a stern fight in the back-end of the Premier League season to retain their top-flight status but the Hammers seem optimistic about their chances, as the club are preparing for what will be a busy transfer window.

David Moyes’ side are set to overhaul their recruitment strategy with the appointment of a director of football, although it looks like the same old names could appear and become linked with a move to the London Stadium.

The Daily Mail seems to think so, as they state that West Ham remain interested in Russia captain Fyodor Smolov and are looking to sign the international striker before this summer’s World Cup, where the forward could raise his price-tag.

Currently representing Krasnodar in his homeland, Smolov wouldn’t be too difficult a signing to secure as it’s claimed £13m is enough to tempt the Russian side into business.

With 30 caps and 12 goals for his nation, the 28-year-old has the capability that West Ham are looking for in the final third and he’s a player fans should certainly keep an eye on during this summer’s World Cup.
