West Ham headed into the international break knowing they had plenty of work to do in their battle to remain in the Premier League, as the Hammers sit just a single point above the relegation zone following three consecutive defeats.

David Moyes’ side have struggled for stability this season, particularly in the final third, and January signing Jordan Hugill is hoping that he can make an impact in tonight’s friendly clash with Dagenham & Redbridge.

The 25-year-old striker has accumulated just 12 minutes of Premier League football since moving to the club from Preston, where he had eight goals to his name, and is eyeing tonight’s game as a chance to prove himself to the coaching staff.

Speaking to the club’s official website, Hugill said:

“For me, this game is perfect because it gives me a platform to show the coaching staff what I can do and that, if I’m called upon, I’m going to be ready for it. Hopefully I’ll do well and if I do the right things on the pitch, it’ll put myself at the forefront of the manager’s mind and show I am ready for it.”

Despite being yet to score for West Ham, Hugill boasts more league goals this season than any player within the Hammers squad- as Marko Arnautovic and Javier Hernandez lead the stats with seven.
