West Ham are in desperate need of reinforcements in midfield and David Moyes is likely to focus on the central areas of his side this summer, although his chances will hinge on whether the Hammers can avoid relegation.

A name familiar to fans is that of Sporting Lisbon’s William Carvalho, after a messy transfer chase last summer saw West Ham miss out on his services, and their opportunity to sign the Euro 2016 winner may have passed.

Italian outlet Tutto Mercato state that Paris Saint-Germain have joined the race for the Portuguese international, as the runaway Ligue 1 leaders look to improve their squad ahead of an assault for the Champions League next season.

The Parisian side lost Blaise Matuidi to Juventus last year and could lose Javier Pastore this summer, whilst Adrien Rabiot continues to be linked with a move away, which will leave the French giants in the market for a midfielder.

As such, the lure of PSG would surely eclipse that of West Ham and Moyes may have to start looking elsewhere.
