West Ham continue to eye further recruits in the market as they seek to bolster their underperforming side this summer and fans should anticipate the return of a familiar name to the back pages.
Respected independent website Claret & Hugh cites claims from the Portuguese press, which state that the Hammers are refusing to give up the chase for Sporting Lisbon ace William Carvalho- despite the fiasco last summer.
The 25-year-old was heavily linked with a switch to east London last summer, which eventually led to a war of words between the two clubs, but the relationship has since been rectified and transfers between the two can go ahead.
As such, those in Portugal seem to believe that West Ham will be make in the market for William Carvalho this summer as they look to finally land the 2016 European Championships winner.
However, Sporting are likely to wait until after the World Cup to sanction a deal as there is a chance that Carvalho’s performances in Russia could increase his price-tag, which in turn could lead to additional competition for the Hammers in the market.
