West Ham are desperate to enjoy a busy month in the January transfer window, as David Moyes looks to rejuvenate his underperforming side with a number of arrivals and departures.

The former Sunderland and Manchester United boss is particularly keen to improve his defensive ranks this month, having seen his relegation threatened side concede 40 goals in 22 matches this season- with only Stoke City having a worse defensive record.

It’s become clear that Swansea City defender Alfie Mawson is West Ham’s preferred target during the January transfer window but the Hammers have found it difficult to persuade the Welsh side into a deal, as the Swans are also battling against the drop.

However, they’ve been handed a boost by Mawson himself who admitted he’s flattered by the interest from the Hammers- and has seemingly left the door wide open for a January move. Speaking to Sky Sportshe said:

“Whatever happens, happens. If offers come in then that is nothing to do with me. All I can do is affect my performances. I’m a Swansea player and I want to do well here.”

“It is flattering to hear certain things but I have got to do what I can for this club. I’m contracted for another two-and-a-half years after this, whether that is in the Championship or hopefully in the Premier League, I am signed to be here so that’s all it is at the moment, it’s just talk.”

West Ham will have to get over the first hurdle before they discuss a deal with Mawson himself though, as they must consist the side rock-bottom of the Premier League to approve a departure.
