It’s no secret that West Ham are looking to bolster their midfield ranks during the January transfer window and an intriguing deal may have just landed at the feet of manager David Moyes.

The Daily MirrorĀ states Premier League giants Arsenal are ready to cash-in on the services of French midfielder Francis Coquelin, as Arsene Wenger plots a rejuvenation of his squad after a poor campaign so far.

26-year-old Coquelin has fallen behind the likes of Granit Xhaka and Jack Wilshere in the North London pecking order and is keen to improve his playing time, as he looks to get his career back-on-track following a period of stagnation.

Crucially, it’s stated that Coquelin was left out of the side that lost to Nottingham Forest in the FA Cup this weekend as a transfer could go ahead- and utilising the Frenchman would have made him ineligible to feature for another side in this season’s competition.

However, West Ham will face competition in the market for Coquelin’s services as it’s stated that La Liga high-flyers Valencia are also keen on a deal, as they seek to return to the Champions League after an absence from Europe this year.
