West Ham have been handed a crucial boost in the January transfer market with the news that a midfield target of theirs is pushing to secure an exit during this month’s window.

Belgian outlet HLNnews states that Anderlecht midfielder Leander Dendoncker wants to leave the club in January, with the report coming just days after another Belgian paper, Nieuwsbladattributed the Hammers with interest.

The 22-year-old, who was linked with Manchester United in the summer, is keen to take the next steps in his career but interested parties are currently put off by Anderlecht’s valuation- as they seek a figure worth around £17.6m.

Despite the current stand-off in terms of a deal, Dendoncker’s own stance means the youngster is likely to secure a transfer this month and West Ham could make a swoop as David Moyes is keen on bolstering his options in the middle of the park.

With the World Cup on the horizon, Belgian international Dendoncker’s preferred destination is the Premier League and there’s no doubt he would improve West Ham’s struggling ranks.
