West Ham are desperate to bolster their squad in January but transfers seem more difficult to complete than many would have expected.
The Hammers have so far failed to sign a player under David Moyes and the chance for that to change swiftly was rejected, with The Sun reporting that Moyes turned down a swap-deal with Newcastle United.
Rafael Benitez’s Newcastle are desperate to improve their squad for the second-half of the season, with last season’s Championship winners in danger of an immediate return to the second-tier, and are keen on Diafra Sakho.
The Senegalese striker is poised to leave this month, seeking opportunities ahead of the World Cup, but West Ham were not keen on a deal offered by Newcastle- which included the services of defender Chancel Mbemba.
Congolese defender Mbemba is a player that Newcastle are keen to offload this month but West Ham are not keen on his services, whilst they’d prefer to sell Sakho outright rather than approving a loan until the end of the season.
Newcastle remain interested in Sakho but have their finances restricted due to ongoing takeover talks, which is making a move for a striker likely to only be on-loan.
