West Ham bolstered their squad last week with the addition of Joao Mario on-loan from Inter Milan but David Moyes seems intent on further improving his options in the centre of midfield.

The Hammers have enjoyed an upturn in form since the Scottish boss replaced Slaven Bilic at the London Stadium last year but are aware that there is still plenty of work to do as they seek to retain their Premier League status.

A number of potential recruits have been named during the January transfer window but Moyes had had to endure frustrations on the market, with last week’s capture of Joao Mario being the first signing for the Hammers in the mid-season window.

The club are determined to complete further deals before the transfer deadline on Wednesday evening and The Sun claims Moyes’ side have informed Fulham they’re prepared to pay £20m for midfielder Tom Cairney.

Fulham’s 27-year-old Scottish international has attracted a wealth of interest in recent months, with Newcastle linked with a move last summer, but the promotion chasing side are determined to keep hold of their prized assets.
