West Ham United face a crucial test in the January transfer window to bolster their side and push away from the Premier League’s relegation zone, though they also seem set to have to fend off interest in key-players.

The Mirror reports that former Hammers boss Sam Allardyce is keen on reuniting with Michail Antonio and is looking to fund a £20m January swoop to bring the England international to Everton.

Everton, like West Ham, find themselves floundering at the wrong end of the Premier League table and the Toffees are determined to improve their attacking ranks, having already signed Cenk Tosun from Besiktas and continuing to be linked with Arsenal’s Theo Walcott.

West Ham have seen Antonio excel since he was brought to the East London side in 2015 from Nottingham Forest, scoring nine goals in each of his last two Premier League seasons, but the versatile attacker has struggled to find form this term.

Antonio has netted just once in 15 Premier League appearances, having encountered injury problems, and may fear for his place in David Moyes’ side if the Hammers move to bolster their own attacking options during the January window.

However, the Hammers will almost certainly rebuff the advances of Antonio as he remains a key-player at the club, whilst £20m would certainly be a steal in the modern market.
