West Ham face a stern test in January as they look to rejuvenate their squad for the battle for Premier League survival that lies ahead but they may face a different sort of challenge in the market.

Whilst the majority of transfer talk concerning the Hammers this month is likely to orientate on potential incoming deals, West Ham may have to fight to keep hold of some of their players amidst interest from rival Premier League sides.

Remarkably, The Daily Mail states that Premier League giants Chelsea have lodged a shock enquiry to sign West Ham striker Andy Carroll as Antonio Conte looks to bolster his ranks in the quest to secure a top four spot this term.

Chelsea are keen to sign Carroll on-loan until the end of the season as they look to find adequate cover for Alvaro Morata, particularly with speculation linking Belgian striker Michy Batshuayi with a loan move of his own away from Stamford Bridge this month.

However, it’s stated that David Moyes is keen to retain Carroll’s services this month and doesn’t see the experienced striker as someone he’s willing to let leave the London Stadium in the mid-season window.
