West Ham may have been handed a huge boost in the January transfer market with the news that a reported target of theirs has been made available this month and offered the chance to move to the Premier League.

The Daily Mail states that Portuguese midfielder Andre Gomes has been offered to English sides by Barcelona, with the Catalan club keen to cash-in on a player who simply hasn’t developed as they would have liked.

Gomes impressed in his homeland before becoming hot property following a spell with Valencia, which earned him a move to Barcelona after winning the European Championships in 2016 with Portugal. However, he hasn’t become the regular starter in midfield that many expected he would.

It remains to be seen whether any Premier League sides will make a move for the 24-year-old but ESPN did report in the summer that West Ham were keen on the player- along with London rivals Tottenham Hotspur.

A Deadline Day loan switch to Tottenham fell through, with Barcelona changing their minds at the last minute, and West Ham may now have a better chance of securing his services as Gomes will be looking for first-team assurances ahead of this summer’s World Cup.
