West Ham are set for a busy period during the January transfer window and a number of departures are being suggested in the weeks ahead.

David Moyes has overseen a vast improvement in the struggling Hammers ranks since he replaced Slaven Bilic as the club’s manager but there is still room for growth, with the Scottish boss intent on rejuvenating his side this month.

Whilst new signings are his priority, a number of players could be on the way out and one of those is young defender Reece Oxford- who spent the first half of the campaign on-loan with Bundesliga outfit Borussia Monchengladbach.

Oxford had to be patient to wait for his opportunities during his time on the continent but impressed after making his bow, leading the German side to chase his signature on a permanent basis- as confirmed by Sporting Director Max Eberl.

“We spoke to West Ham a lot in the winter break and we were surprised when they decided to trigger the clause to recall him. The tone of the discussions before that had been slightly different. But I understand their intentions – West Ham are in a fight to stay up and they wanted to bring back a really good player to help them.”

“However he hasn’t featured for them since being recalled so we are continuing to have talks with the club. I hope that no other club comes in and makes him an offer to turn his head. As long as that doesn’t happen, we have the chance of bringing Reece back to Gladbach.”

“He developed brilliantly in the five months he was with us. He had to wait for his chance but when he got it, he took his opportunity impressively.”

Oxford has struggled to establish himself in the first-team frame in East London after an impressive debut against Arsenal a few years ago and it’s understood he’d be keen on a transfer.
