West Ham are preparing for a busy January transfer window and they could bring in an established international name, with reports suggesting David Moyes is keen on improving his midfield ranks.

The Guardian reveals the relegation threatened side are interested in a move for Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere, who may seek an exit from the North London side in January as he attempts to force his way into the England squad for next summer’s World Cup.

Wilshere has struggled for fitness in recent years and has fallen down the pecking order at the Emirates Stadium as a result, spending last year on-loan with Bournemouth, and has seen opportunities limited again this season- though he’s in line to start against the Hammers tonight with Aaron Ramsey injured.

Ramsey’s injury hands the opportunity for Wilshere to fight his way back into reckoning but his contract is due to expire at the end of the season and there’s no signs of a deal being agreed, which means Arsenal may look to cash in during January.

A move across London would appeal to Wilshere due to his young family and Moyes has confirmed interest in the player, stating:

“You’d hope that if you took a player from another Premier League club it’d be much easier for him to go right into the team and play well. Jack Wilshere would be someone who we’d have to look at if he was available.”
