West Ham have struggled to find their feet in this Premier League season and David Moyes’ first game in charge of the Hammers didn’t provide an instant improvement.
The Hammers lost 2-0 away from home against Watford, in a match where they failed to truly test the Hornets, and as a result stay in the Premier League’s relegation spots for another week- still one point off safety.
Moyes did make a number of changes to the side for his first match with the Hammers, including the reinstatement of club-record signing Marko Arnautovic into the side but fans were left split on the Austrian international’s performance.
Arnautovic, yet to score or provide an assist this season, did show some signs of life and was unfortunate not to open his account for the Hammers in the second-half as he was denied by a spectacular double save from Watford stopper Heurelho Gomes.
The 28-year-old looked more lively in the side but he’s still failed to win over some fans, with opinions on the former Stoke City man’s performance split.

Some West Ham fans are deluded. Arnautovic showed a lot more today, positionally was much better! Still a lot more to come though! #whufc

Hopefully Antonio back for Leicester as well and hopefully Arnautovic isn’t too bad because though he looked the best he has in some patches tonight

Arnautovic and Carroll are a disease on our club ⚒

Arnautovic played well today.

I thought Marko Arnautovic actually had a very good game, probably his best since joining the club. He looked a threat, would have scored but for a sensational double stop from Gomez. He also provided a fantastic ball to Kouyate which was a shocking miss. I hope he is ok.

Well, not much has changed so far. We were slow and lethargic, defence was weak, Arnautovic was lazy, Hart made mistakes, Carroll got booked and we lost. Where’s the new manager bounce? #WHUFC

Arnautovic has been excellent so far and head and shoulders above anyone else on the pitch for us

Positives:
– Arnautovic looked good with and without the ball.
– The players never gave up.Negatives:
– Absolutely everything else.— West Ham United. (@TheHammersView) November 19, 2017

West Ham need to get the ball to Arnautovic more, he's got the beating of Britos down the right. Been the best Hammers player so far.
