West Ham United will face fresh competition from Serie A Champions Juventus in their pursuit of Barcelona outcast Andre Gomes, reports the Daily Mail.

Gomes has found himself surplus to requirements at the Camp Nou this season following a difficult first campaign in Spain.

The Portugal international almost joined Tottenham Hotspur in the summer on a season long loan deal, however after staying with the Catalan club, he is now understood to want to leave in order to bolster his chances of a place at the 2018 World Cup with his country.

Competition in Portugal’s midfield is hotting up, with the likes of William Carvalho, Danilo and Renato Sanches all likely to be on the plane, and Gomes wants to ensure he too is on his way to Russia.

West Ham remain interested in the Euro 2016 winner as Slaven Bilic looks to bolster his options in midfield, however Juventus are now too amongst those interested and are favourites to land his signature.

According to Corriere dello Sport, Serie A giants Juve will start negotiations in the coming weeks after identifying the midfielder as a transfer target, and they hope they can secure Gomes at a cut price deal after his tough career thus far in Spain.
