West Ham boss David Moyes is set for an extremely busy few weeks, as he looks to push the Hammers away from the relegation zone and strengthen his side in the January transfer window.

The Hammers sit third bottom in the Premier League, winning just two of 12 games, and have conceded more goals than any other side in England’s top-flight so far this season.

A 2-0 defeat to Watford in Moyes’ first game in charge has not improved the situation and the Scottish boss will be seeking the right signings in the New Year to help his side in their battle to avoid the drop. However, it doesn’t look like it will be easy.

ESPNĀ report that German outfit Hoffenheim are rivalling the Hammers for the signature of Shakhtar Donestsk midfield Taras Stepanenko and are confident of beating the East London side to the 28-year-old’s signature.

The Ukrainian international had initially been identified as a target by recently axed boss Slaven Bilic but the Hammers interest was still present. However, Hoffenheim believe they’re set to win the battle for the experienced ace’s signature.

It’s claimed that Stepanenko is unsure of a move to West Ham following the recent managerial change, which saw Moyes appointed during the international break.
