Southampton legend Matt Le Tissier has hit out at West Ham defender Jose Fonte for comments made about his former club by the Portuguese star on social media.
Fonte left the Saints in January this year, moving to the London Stadium in a deal worth a reported £8 million.
The veteran defender, who spent seven years at the club between 2010 and 2017, made a number of comments about his former side, including that they ‘lack ambition’ to push on to the next level, as demonstrated by continually selling their best players year after year.
Such remarks did not sit well with Le Tissier, who went was quick to defend the Saints and instead point out some home truths about Fonte too.
“Not sure of the credibility of his views given what happened and where he ended up.” said the Saints legend via his official Twitter account.
West Ham are currently third from bottom in the league, while Southampton are only four points above them in 15th.
