Moyes assures struggling star of London Stadium future

New West Ham United manager David Moyes has assured striker Javier Hernandez of his future at the London Stadium, despite rumours he could leave the Hammers as soon as January.

The former Manchester United arrived in East London from Bayer Leverkusen in a deal worth a reported £16 million.

Big things were expected of the Mexico international given his record on both the domestic and international stages, however he has struggled for form since his return to England, finding the net only 4 times since the start of the new campaign.

Rumours of his unhappiness were soon followed by further of his imminent departure, however David Moyes has insisted the Mexican is going nowhere despite not utilising him during their time at Old Trafford together.

“He’s a top goalscorer, a brilliant finisher,” said Moyes of the 29-year-old. “It was difficult for him at United because I had Robin van Persie, Wayne Rooney, Danny Welbeck, Shinji Kagawa, so there was lots of competition. But he’ll be treated the same here – if he’s playing well and scoring, no problems. If he’s not, it will be the same as the rest.”

Hernandez is not expected to be in Moyes squad on November 19th however due to picking up a hamstring injury on international duty against Belgium.
