Former Premier League winner and Manchester City boss Roberto Mancini is leading the race to become the new manager at the London Stadium, reports the Mirror.

The Italian, who guided his former City side to top flight glory in 2012, is now the current boss of Russian side Zenit St Petersburg.

However, with current West Ham boss Slaven Bilic under heavy fire and with only ‘two games’ to save his Hammers career, the Sampdoria legend has been hotly tipped as the man to succeed the Croatian in East London.

Bilic’s West Ham side face London rivals Tottenham and Crystal Palace in the coming weeks, with a failure to win in either fixture likely to result in the Croat’s departure and a subsequent approach for Mancini.

The Hammers will face a challenge in persuading Mancini to involve himself in a relegation dog fight however, with the ex-City boss used to plying his trade at the other end of the table as one of Europe’s most successful bosses of the past decade.

Should West Ham fail to land Mancini, they are expected to move for Sean Dyche or Hoffenheim boss Julian Nagelsmann.
