West Ham dropped two points at the weekend as the Hammers threw away a two-goal lead at Selhurst Park to draw 2-2 with Crystal Palace, a result that leaves Slaven Bilic’s side sat just a single point above the relegation zone.

Victory for the Hammers would have been decisive, potentially giving the club something to build upon, but Bilic and his men must now prepare for a crucial few weeks that sees them face Liverpool this weekend before the international break.

West Ham then clash with high-flying Watford before two crucial matches against fellow Premier League strugglers Leicester City and Everton, two games that may well define the Hammers’ season and set the precedent for the months ahead.

The club will certainly look back on this weekend’s draw as a missed opportunity and BBC pundit Garth Crooks believes the team severely let goalkeeper Joe Hart down, stating that they should apologise to the Manchester City loanee.

“It’s not often I feel sorry for goalkeepers, but I felt for Joe Hart after West Ham’s draw at Crystal Palace. He deserved better from his team-mates.”

“Goalkeepers are often the first to hold their hands up in the dressing room when they have dropped a clanger, and I expect West Ham’s players to apologise to Hart after he made some fantastic saves and put the Hammers in a great position to win the game.”

“This should have been West Ham’s first away victory of the season in the league, and would have been had it not been for some shocking decision-making by players who should have known better.”
